Alright, the following should be taken with a few reservations. However, if Hardware Unboxed is to be believed, NVIDIA is reportedly holding back to avoid publishing reviews of the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. It’s hard to say why, but some are speculating that the card isn’t very comfortable with its 8GB of memory.
RTX 5060 Ti 8GB: no tests planned for the big day?
If VideoCardz is to be believed, NVIDIA is reportedly not authorising the distribution of test samples to the media. From this, we learn that some are being disingenuous in stating that the cards are simply not ready. In other cases, Hardware Unboxed reports that partners have simply been instructed not to distribute these samples to the press.
If rumours are to be believed, despite availability being announced on the same day as the 16GB variant, the 8GB model will not arrive in stores until later. We’re talking about an additional delay of up to a week. If this is true, it’s a shame, as it would have allowed us to have a more complete offering in this mid-range sector. Remember that the card is advertised at $379, compared with $429 for the 16GB version.
Once again, if all this proves to be true, it remains to be seen what the reasons behind this restraint are. However, disappointing performance could be at the root of this situation. Clearly, the Chameleon’s marketing emphasises performance measured in 1440p with DLSS. However, on several occasions we’ve seen that 8GB of VRAM is increasingly proving to be an obstacle for modern games in 2025. It may be that the 8GB version is disappointing in this resolution and that the Greens don’t want to put the card forward.
Finally, compared to the RTX 4060 Ti, we have a radical change of attitude. Let’s not forget that the 16GB version of the 4060 Ti was launched without being given too much prominence, unlike the 8GB version. What’s more, the price of the latter was almost prohibitive ($499 compared with $599 for the RTX 4070). Now it’s the other way round: the 8GB version has been shelved, while the 16GB version is much more attractively priced by comparison.
