Is Intel’s Server CPU Cancellation A Good Or Bad Thing?

Analysis: Is it a trend or a single point decision?

Yesterday we told you that Intel’s canceling of a major server product could have a silver lining. What was SemiAccurate talking about?

The short story is that it shows Intel is actually doing the obvious, and right, thing for once. Problems that were quite clear to many observers starting in 2018 for servers and 2016 for process tech seemed to be ignored internally. Worse yet they were doubled down on and brought to market even if they when, if perfectly executed, would lose badly against the competition. It was systemic rank idiocy, corporate catabolization by policy, again and again. And it didn’t change until Pat Gelsinger forced the issue.

So back to the current chip cancellation. Is it a good thing or another sign of rot?
