Silverstone offers a range of retro-looking cases with the FLP01 and FLP02 series. These cases adopt HTPC and mid-tower formats respectively, all with a ’90s look for the more nostalgic among us. It’s also a great opportunity to assemble a big sleeper, by the way. Nevertheless, at an event the brand unveiled the FLP03 for micro-ATX configurations!
FLP03: the ragrandie retro-case family!
In concrete terms, we’re back with a retro-looking case whose off-white color is sure to evoke some memories. The dimensions of this model are 220 (W) x 477 (D) x 456 (H) mm.
These dimensions enable it to accommodate motherboards in micro-ATX and mini-ITX format, while its length offers a clearance of 412 mm. The maximum height of the CPU cooling unit depends on whether or not a GPU support is fitted. It will vary from 167 to 171 mm, while the maximum depth of the power supply is 180 mm.
As for cooling, Silverstone is planning a fan slot on the front panel: 180 mm! At the top, there are three 120 mm slots and two 140 mm slots, while a final 120 mm slot is provided at the rear.
In addition to its two 3.5″ slots (one of which can accommodate two 2.5″ units) and its single 2.5″ slot, this model also features three 5.25″ bays. The latter will meet the growing demand for ODD drives in Japan in particular.
All that remains is to talk about the selling price, because there’s something to be said for the fact that these bodies are anything but affordable. The FLP01 is priced at around €140~150, while the FLP02 comes in at around €224 from Alternate. If we had to estimate the price of the FLP03, we could reasonably put it at around €200 here. No, the retro look really isn’t cheap.
