Pokécology: An Illustrated Guide to Pokémon Ecology arrives in 2026

A gorgeous Pokémon book that dives into the fictional ecology of pocket monsters is getting a release outside of Japan in 2026. The Pokémon Company announced this week that Pokécology: An Illustrated Guide to Pokémon Ecology will get an English translation and release in North America, thanks to Pikachu Press and Simon & Schuster.

Pokécology: An Illustrated Guide to Pokémon Ecology was originally released in Japan this summer. It features the work of author Yoshinari Yonehara and illustrator Chihiro Kinoshita — both of whom hold doctorate degrees and have studied animal behavior and ecology, according to The Pokémon Company — who offer a scientific perspective on the ecological habits of Pokémon. In addition to some lovely illustrations of hundreds of Pokémon, the text explores the similarities, differences, generalities, and relationships between Pokémon ecologies, according to the publisher.

The 208-page book will arrive in North America on April 21, 2026. Pokécology: An Illustrated Guide to Pokémon Ecology is now available for pre-order for $14.99 from online retailers including Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Bookshop.org, Hudson Booksellers, and Target. Check your local bookstore as well.
