35 Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games To Look Forward To In 2025

Looking for the best new Nintendo Switch games releasing soon? Even in its twilight years, Nintendo’s hybrid console is delivering, but next year could well be ushering in the successor. That doesn’t mean the Switch is being left behind in 2025, though.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD kicked off the year, and a Wii U favourite in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition followed shortly after. 2025 will also give us a brand new Pokémon game in Pokémon Legends: Z-A and the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. There’s plenty more, and there’s even Switch games announced for 2026, too.

Below, we’ve rounded up the biggest new Nintendo Switch games coming soon. And, of course, we’ll be adding to (and subtracting from) this list as the weeks and months go by.

Nintendo Switch Upcoming Games

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos (Switch eShop)

Okay, if you expected to see this one again — let alone on Switch — well, you get a cookie. Croc was a bit hit for Argonaut Games back on the PlayStation, but other than a few sequels, the little fella hasn’t seen much action since.

Now, we’re getting a remastered version on multiple consoles, with the ability to turn off tank controls and a brand new Crocopedia. We’re excited to relive our childhoods on 2nd April 2025.

I, Robot (Switch eShop)

Jeff Minter is at it again, revitalising cult retro gems with I, Robot, along with Atari. This is a reimagining of the 1984 arcade title of the same name and will feature 55 levels, online leaderboards, kaleidoscopic visuals, and incredible music.

It’s due to launch on 17th April 2025, and given how much we enjoyed Akka Arrh, we’ll be taking a dive into this one.

Rusty Rabbit (Switch eShop)

We never imagined the world of Peter Rabbit would be a matter of faith, but that’s one of the things that makes robot-piloting Metroidvania Rusty Rabbit stand out. Created by Psycho-Pass writer and co-creator of Puella Magi Madoka Magica Gen Urobuchi, Rusty Robot sounds utterly bonkers, and we’ve heard nothing but good things from early previews.

2025 could well be another ace year for the Metroidvania genre, and we’ll find out if Rusty Rabbit is a contender when it hops to Switch on 17th April 2025.

Lunar Remastered Collection (Switch)

Fans of Game Arts’ Lunar series thought this day would never, ever, come, but the Lunar Remastered Collection is very real, and it’s coming to all platforms on 18th April 2025.

The compilation contains the two main games — Lunar: The Silver Star and Lunar: Eternal Blue — and bring new English voice acting, quality-of-life upgrades like fast-forward, and remastered visuals. The pair are apparently based on the PS1 enhanced releases. For many, this will be their first time experiencing Lunar, and this duo promises a cosy, heartwarming pair of adventures.

The Hundred Line – Last Defense Academy (Switch)

We’ve not really seen anything like this from the developers behind Danganronpa and Zero Escape. The Hundred Line Last Defense Academy may sport a familiar premise and the former’s well-known art style, but it blends visual novel elements with tactical RPG gameplay. Along with the writing pedigree from these two developers, Last Defense Academy could be something special.

You’ll be enrolling in Kazutaka Kodaka and Kotaro Uchikoshi’s new Academy on 24th April 2025.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 (Switch)

Okay, hold up, hold up — Power Stone is back?? Yes, friends, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is coming, and it’s a real doozy.

Featuring Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein, Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER, and more, if you’re a fighting game fan, this will be a no-brainer pick-up. It launches on 16th May 2025.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time (Switch)

One of Level-5’s surprise reveals in February 2023, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time brings back returning characters and new faces on an all-new island. You’ll be able to travel to the past as well as take on whatever jobs you want in this one.

The game was originally coming out on 10th October 2024 but was delayed to April 2025, before landing a final (hopefully!) release date of 21st May 2025.

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny (Switch)

Many slept-on franchises seem to be making a return this year, and Capcom’s bringing back yet another classic — Onimusha. While other consoles are getting a brand new game in 2026, Switch owners can still get excited with a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, which launches on 23rd May 2025.

We don’t know much about the remaster yet, but those wanting to get into the series, know that you can dive straight into 2 even though it’s a direct sequel.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (Switch)

Rune Factory heads to an Asian-inspired land for the first time. Teased as Project Dragon, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma adds town repairs and more weapon variety to the action RPG life sim series. But don’t worry, the farming hasn’t gone anywhere, nor have the romanceable NPCs.

We’ll be heading to Azuma on 30th May 2025.

Demonschool (Switch eShop)

We only had a small taste of what Demonschool is all about in our preview in late 2022, but much like its big chompy demon, we’re hungry for more. The Persona-like school downtime and the Buffy-esque feeling of being the only ones who can stop the demonic chaos invading our town is enough to get us feeling nostalgic for the 2000s, but the blend of snappy tactics, original visual style, and modern, witty writing has us looking forward to its eventual release.

The game has been delayed multiple times, with a firm release originally set for 13th September. Now, the game has been delayed to early 2025.

Patapon 1+2 Replay (Switch eShop)

It’s far from the only Sony project on this list, but boy are we excited to see it here. Patapon 1+2 Replay are two delightful little rhythm games from the PSP’s heyday, combining groovy beats, a wacky script and some of the cutest one-eyed beasties out there.

While the original team is hard at work on a spiritual successor, Ratatan (also releasing this year), we’ll get to dive into where it all started on 11th June.

TRON: Catalyst (Switch eShop)

We never expected Tron, of all Disney properties, to get a new lease of life in the 2010s, but here we are. After last year’s TRON: Identity, Bithell Games is returning with a brand new action game set in the Tron universe.

TRON: Catalyst is launching 17th June 2025, and you’ll get to ride your own Light Cycle and explore the Arq Grid in neon style.

RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army (Switch)

This is a remaster of the third game in the SMT spin-off Devil Summoner series, Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army. Released on PS2 in 2006, this remaster brings some modern polish to the action RPG in what the PR blurb calls “an enhanced yet faithful remaster” with “brand-new UI, full VO, expanded 3D environments, and more”.

Looks tasty, and it’s out on 19th June.

Ruffy and the Riverside (Switch eShop)

Can we get enough of charming platformers? Nope. Add in a hand-drawn flair and we’re absolutely smitten. Ruffy and the Riverside caught our eyes at Summer Game Fest 2023 and since then it’s only gone from strength to strength.

The gimmick here is you can essentially copy and paste textures to help you get around. Add in the paper-like aesthetic, and it looks incredibly smooth. Previews have been positive, and the Switch(es) release is due on 26th June 2025.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 (Switch)

It was only a matter of time until Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 ollied onto Switch, and on 11th July 2025, we’ll be doing exactly that. A brand new skate park has been confirmed, and we’ll also be getting new modes and new skaters.

Apparently, these games have been “authentically remade”, so it’ll be interesting to see how close they are to the original releases. We’ll be there day one.
